Sports Day
Okay so it's boiling hot and I've just been sitting in a field with no shade for the past two and a half hours watching my six-year-old stepsister in her sports day.
Bless her she reminds me of when I was her age - losing every single race, usually by quite a distance! Absolutely no sense of urgency, but she looked like she was having a good time. Stupidly I didn't bring a hat, or a bottle of water so I was just sitting there absolutely roasting. I believe my face has now gone the colour of a tomato (attractive).
On the plus side the reception year sack race was the most entertaining thing I have seen in a long time. All these tiny little children pretty much swallowed by a plastic sack, falling over repeatedly, getting stuck, etc. I wasn't at it last year when Beth (my sister) did it, but apparently she got stuck in the sack halfway down and had to be carried over the line by two teachers. Funtimes.
All the mothers (and fathers) seemed to be having trouble spotting their kids when they came out onto the field, from a distance they all looked the same, in a variety of different colour sunhats. Tracey and I had no trouble, however, because Beth's hair is such a bright red that you could probably see her a mile off! Very useful in crowd situations.
I don't think I'll be going out of the house again today anytime soon, I need time to cool off!
